Four Generations of Farming in the Skagit Valley – When you shop with Our Family Farm, you’re buying from a family whose farming roots in the Skagit Valley go back more than a century.
The Hulbert family story began in 1909, when James Hulbert Sr. and his family moved from Iowa to the flats of the Skagit Valley. He established a stock and dairy farm, raising Holsteins before eventually transitioning to row crops. He became one of the early Washington farmers to commercially grow strawberries and peas.
In the late 1940s, his sons Robert and James Jr. joined the family operation after attending Washington State University and serving in World War II. Over the years, the family continued growing strawberries along with broccoli, cauliflower, vegetable seed, daffodil bulbs and other crops.
Today, that agricultural tradition continues on Fir Island in Skagit County. Robert’s son Michael and grandson Dane established Our Family Farm LLC in 2017, carrying generations of farming experience forward while continuing to grow fresh food for communities throughout our region.

Our Family Farm brings an incredible variety of seasonal produce to market, including: Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, tayberries, blackberries, boysenberries, currants, corn, specialty squash and pumpkins, rhubarb, and dahlias.
