For 15 years, Blue Stilly Coffee Roasters has been part of the Everett Farmers Market community.
Behind Blue Stilly are Rick and Sue MacDonald, familiar faces to longtime Market shoppers. And over all those years, it hasn’t just been Rick and Sue behind the booth. Their children and grandchildren have worked alongside them, making Blue Stilly a true family presence at the Market.
Their history with Everett goes back to 2011, through the waterfront years at the Port of Everett, the Market’s early Holiday Craft Fairs, and eventually the move to downtown Everett. Through all those changes, Blue Stilly has remained a familiar part of the Market.
Small-Batch Coffee, Roasted Locally
Rick and Sue’s business grew from a shared love of really good coffee.
After trying coffees from different roasters and visiting local roasting companies, they developed a particular appreciation for drum-roasted coffee and the depth of flavor it could produce. Eventually, they decided to learn the craft themselves.
They purchased a Diedrich drum-style roaster, trained with its previous owner and later attended training at the Diedrich factory, learning about coffee from growing and processing all the way through roasting and brewing.
Today, Blue Stilly continues to roast its coffee locally in small batches, with attention to the individual qualities of the beans and the finished roast.
Organic Coffees From Around the World
One of the things we love about Blue Stilly is their selection of organic coffees. Their coffees originate in growing regions around the world, with selections from countries including Ethiopia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Kenya, Tanzania, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.
Blue Stilly offers single-origin coffees and blends along with organic and decaffeinated choices, giving coffee drinkers plenty of opportunities to find a favorite. And if you aren’t sure what you like, talk to Rick and Sue. That’s one of the great things about buying directly from the people who roast your coffee.
When Market Season Ends, the Coffee Doesn’t Have To
Here’s another reason Blue Stilly has developed such loyal customers: they deliver. For years, Rick and Sue have offered home delivery through their Coffee Club. Customers in Everett, Marysville, Arlington, Mukilteo, Lynnwood and other communities along the north I-5 corridor can have freshly roasted Blue Stilly coffee delivered directly to their homes.
That means when the Everett Farmers Market season comes to an end in October, you don’t have to wait until spring for your Blue Stilly coffee. You can keep it coming right to your door. But for now find them on Sundays | 10:30 a.m.–3 p.m. | Through October 25.
