Vendor Spotlight: Meet Our Mushroom Vendors

There’s a whole world of mushrooms beyond the familiar varieties at the grocery store, and Skagit Gourmet Mushrooms and YouMushroom bring two very different mushroom businesses to the Everett Farmers Market.

Skagit Gourmet Mushrooms

Mark Rickard and his family have been building Skagit Gourmet Mushrooms since 2016. What started in a greenhouse with no end walls or doors has grown into a family-run farm operating in two locations north of Sedro-Woolley.

Today, they grow specialty varieties including Oyster, Lion’s Mane, Pioppino, Cinnamon Cap and Shiitake, taking their mushrooms from culture and spawn through growing and harvest. Their focus remains on producing exceptional mushrooms locally while reducing food miles and bringing something a little different to Northwest tables.

YouMushroom

Jason Hammond’s YouMushroom brings the mushroom world right into the heart of Everett. Their shop and urban farm on Rucker Avenue is designed to be more than a place to buy mushrooms—it’s also about helping people learn how to grow and incorporate mushrooms and other natural foods into everyday life.

At the market, shoppers can discover fresh specialty mushrooms along with mushroom foods and drinks, grow kits and more. YouMushroom’s interests also extend beyond fungi to honey, sprouts, herbal products and gardening. Their Everett shop gives the business a year-round home right here in our community.
